PhD Research. My work is focused on the issues that arise when using born digital documents as primary sources to conduct research in contemporary history. In particular the goal of my PhD is to better understand how the processes of finding, selecting and analyzing sources change when dealing with “born-digital” ones.
For these reasons, I am interested in the development and in the use of web archives and, at the same time, in information retrieval, natural language processing, semantic web technologies and, more generally, in every kind of computational method that could help historians in dealing with sources that are digitally created.
The main case study of my research is an analysis of the recent history of Italian universities through their born-digital traces.
